Hello and Welcome!
I’m Claire Whiteman and it is an honor to introduce myself to you! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervision designation (LPCC-S), a Licensed Professional Art Therapist (LPAT-Ohio), and a nationally Registered Art Therapist (ATR).

It is a true privilege to walk alongside people on their journeys of healing and growth. I strongly believe each of us holds a unique place in this world, even when we are struggling through your darkest moments. Whether you’re navigating overwhelming stress, struggling with loss, working through trauma, or simply feeling stuck – you are not alone, and healing is possible!

My approach to therapy is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience. I aim to provide a warm, safe, and nonjudgemental space where you can feel truly seen, heard, and supported. Asking for help takes courage! My goal is to assist you in finding ways to be more equipped to handle your life stressors, whatever those may be. In our work together, I will help you tap into your existing strengths, develop new tools, deepen self-understanding, and build a greater sense of self-compassion.
My Story
As a therapist, I recognize that we are all made up of many parts – stories, emotions, identities, and experiences – and that a diagnosis is only one small aspect of a much bigger picture. I do not view people through the lens of a label, but rather as whole individuals with unique needs and potential. I believe that genuine, therapeutic connection – one grounded in safety, honesty, and trust – is the foundation for meaningful change.

I work with teens through adults, and have experience supporting individuals facing a wide range of concerns. Utilizing an integrative, evidence-based approach, I work collaboratively with you to find what feels the most effective and empowering for you. Please see my list of treatment areas and modalities on the following page Specializations and Approaches.

Experience and Background
I’ve worked in a variety of clinical settings including community-based programs, hospital inpatient units, outpatient services, and private practice. This wide range of experiences has helped shape my flexible, client-centered approach and deepened my understanding of the diverse challenges people face.

I hold an AA in Fine Arts and a BA in Psychology from Westmont College (Cum Laude), and earned my MA in Counseling and Art Therapy from Ursuline College. During my time at Ursuline, I was honored with the Art Therapy Excellence Award. I have presented research at both local and international conferences, and have been published. I was also a charter member of the Art Therapy and Counseling Mentoring Program in 2017.
A Bit More About Me
When I’m not providing therapy, you’ll often find me spending time with family, creating art, exploring nature, playing with my dogs, or capturing moments through nature photography (All photographs and artwork featured on this site are my original creations). Creativity and connection are at the heart of both my personal and professional life.
